From Colle Malamerenda, the route heads towards the Val d’Arbia. Here, the orderly fields of grains, forage, and sunflowers blend into a more varied landscape, painted with the earthy tones of Siena. This evocative stage, immersed in the rolling Sienese hills, dotted with farmhouses and historic villages, intersects with the Via Francigena. After a final glance back at the city of the Palio, nestled between the hills, cyclists face a long gravel section, passing first through the picturesque village of Radi and then Murlo, which is built around an ancient Etruscan site: a grand palace surrounded by artisan shops, one of the most significant discoveries of the Etruscan civilization.
